It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Prentice McCoy, 52, a beloved member of the community, Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.
Born Oct. 11, 1972, in Fairbanks, AK, he touched many lives during his time on earth. He was a member of Living Water Church, finding peace and strength in his faith in Jesus Christ. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in activities like fishing and hunting, connecting with nature in a profound way. He was known for his unwavering support of sports, proudly cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, UK football, and UK basketball teams. He also shared his love for music, enjoying all genres, and was often seen at concerts, NASCAR races, and watching the ponies at Keeneland. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, and spending quality time with his cherished pets, Paco and Kitty. Grilling and cooking for family and friends brought him immense joy, as did the company of those he held dear. Above all, he treasured his role as a father, finding immense pride in his sons, Preston and Ashton.
Survivors include two sons, Preston McCoy and Ashton McCoy; mother, Sue McCoy; brother, Ryan McCoy (Becky); nephews, Chandler McCoy and Brennan McCoy; aunts, Patty Yarber, Peggy Otis (Archie), Dixie Thompson (Donnie) and Teresa McCoy; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer McCoy Jr.; maternal grandparents, Hood and Gladys Ballard; paternal grandparents, Homer Sr. and Virgileen Chandler McCoy; uncles, Greg McCoy, JR Yarber and Gary Ballard.
Service will be conducted at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at Living Water Church with Pastor John Duggins and Pastor Scott Holley officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Thursday.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Brian can be made to Montgomery County Boys Golf Team, P.O. Box 11, Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353 and/or MCHS Bass Fishing, 724 Woodford Dr., Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353.
He will forever be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for those closest to him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was truly cherished by all who knew him.
