Ellis Kendrick, 91, of Jeffersonville, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at St. Joseph Mount Sterling, surrounded by his family.
Born Dec. 24, 1933, in Mt. Sterling, he was the son of the late Alton and Myrtle Kendrick.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a carpenter by trade and loved working with his hands.  His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and just being in nature.  He loved all animals in general.  He was a member of the Pentecostal faith.  Above all, his family meant more to him than anything and he would do anything for them.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly (Ewell) Simpson of Mt. Sterling; son, Ricky (Lisa) Kendrick of Jeffersonville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; three brothers, Alton Kendrick Jr. and Michael Kendrick, both of Jeffersonville and Darrell Kendrick of Mt. Sterling.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Martin Kendrick; son, Ellis Ray Kendrick; and four sisters, Marie Martin, Mary Jo Martin, Phyllis Stone and Nancy Baker.
Service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals Chapel.  Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery in Jeffersonville, with full military rites by the American Legion Post 22.
Pallbearers will be Logan Kendrick, Chris Kendrick, Austin Henderson, Mike Henderson, Jason Conway and Joe Simpson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Kendrick, Shawn Anderson and Zach Martin.
Funeral services entrusted to the care of Herald and Stewart Home for Funerals.
