‘Out of the Ashes’ event celebrated DuBois School history

Jackie Evans, left, and Brenda Ralls placed a sign at “The Courting Tree” outside DuBois Community Center Saturday. Now a stump, it was the site where many DuBois High School students once congregated, some of whom began “courting” each other. The sign read, “I survived,” in reference to a fire that destroyed much of the DuBois High School in 1964. REGION CHAMPS—The Montgomery County Lady Indians won the Region 12 Golf Tournament last Wednesday at Irish Hills Golf Course. HEADED TO STATE—These Montgomery County eighth graders, Brooks Bonfield, left, and Connor Cooper, qualified for the KHSAA State Golf Tournament last week competing in the Region 12 Tournament at Morehead. Bonfield shot 75 and tied for third while Cooper fired a 79 to tie for 10th place.
